Atrium Health Navicent’s Rise to Success Program Helps Train Future Health Care Workers

Group of medical staff.

Graduating high school seniors are eligible to apply for entrance into Atrium Health Navicent’s Rise to Success program. Now in its second year, the program provides part-time employment and financial support for students pursing health care careers.

Participants have the opportunity to earn an associate degree at a local community college while gaining valuable on-the-job experience, and with Atrium Health Navicent helping to pay for tuition, books and fees.

“Nationwide, there’s a growing need for health care workers and we want to empower young people to seek these careers while earning their degree and gaining work experience close to home,” said Gina Keadle, chief human resource officer for Atrium Health’s Georgia region. “This program helps to remove barriers to education and provide an entry path into health care careers while offering an opportunity to earn income.”

Eligible fields of study for the Rise to Success program include emergency medical services and paramedic programs, clinical technician, medical laboratory technology, nursing, radiology, surgical technology, occupational therapy and physical therapy.

While earning an associate degree in one of these fields, participants will work part-time in areas such as guest services, patient services, registration, patient transport, nutrition, or in clerical or administrative positions.

Students are encouraged to continue their education after earning an associate degree by transferring to a four-year college or university while still working at Atrium Health Navicent. Students will have access to a career coach who will support their academic work and success throughout the program.

In the program’s first year, 10 selected students began their associate degree at Central Georgia Technical College, including Denia Bolton, a Rise to Success scholar and 2022 Peach County High School graduate.

“So far, the program has been great! I love the opportunities that I’ve grasped from this program,” Bolton said. I expect to gain my associate degree out of this program and continue successfully with my career.”
